Headlines

Montauban, Land of play 2024

August 2024

Montauban has been awarded the “Land of Games 2024” label by the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee. This award recognizes the city’s sports policy. As part of this process, the city has also submitted its application to join the official list of preparation centers for the Games, and hopes to welcome foreign delegations for pre-event training.

June

Montauban en Scènes is the musical event of the summer! 4 evenings of concerts with the biggest names on the French and international scene. Vianney, Julien Doré, Patrick Bruel and Rag’n’Bone Man have already graced the stage at Montauban’s Jardin des Plantes.

Ladies Golf Open

June

Since 2019, Golf de l’Estang de Montauban has been organizing the “Ladies Open” every year, a professional women’s golf tournament unique in Occitania. Listed on the LET Access Series calendar among other French dates as part of the European women’s circuit, this event brings together French and international players.

Olympe de Gouges Days

March

Every two years, interspersed with the Mars en Danse festival, these days faithful to the humanist thinking and ideals of freedom of the most famous Montalban woman, offer artistic encounters with women who trace their luminous wake in the dark sea of indifference and misogyny.

March

It’s a meeting place for sportsmen and women, for those who surpass themselves to achieve one of the most difficult sporting feats. The course can be adapted to suit your desires, with the traditional marathon, a half-marathon, 10 kms or team events.

Festival des Lucioles

July

Since 2022, in July, Montauban has been shining with a thousand and one lights, from the façade of its cathedral to the Place Lalaque, via the Ingres Bourdelle museum. Mappings, light trails, interactive shows and many other surprises… will enliven the city throughout the festival period.
It’s an opportunity to rediscover the city’s buildings and monuments by night, thanks to a very special architectural illumination.
The colors of the sky and the monuments blend together before your very eyes.

400 Blows Festival

September

It pays tribute to a major historical event in the town’s history:
the unflinching resistance of the Montalban people to Louis XIII’s siege in 1621, which gave rise to the legend of the 400 coups (see p.4). Since then, every year for a weekend, the town celebrates and hosts one of the biggest funfairs in the South-West!

For 40 years, the month of September has been synonymous with heritage! Organized by Montauban’s CIAP, the European Heritage Days bring history and heritage lovers together to discover the treasures of Greater Montauban.

Les Passions Baroques is Montauban’s October musical rendez-vous. Organized by the association Les Passons, under the supervision of Jean-Marc Andrieu, this festival brings together lovers of Baroque music in all its forms. Concerts, lectures, readings and master classes are all on the program for this music-lovers’ rendezvous.

November

Lettre d’automne is a 15-day literary festival in Montalban, inviting leading contemporary writers to discuss, debate and give readings on current literary themes. Mathias Énard, Christian Garcin, Brigitte Giraud and Laurent Mauvignier are among the latest guests of honor.

Manuel Azaña Days

November

The “Manuel Azaña Days” commemorate the anniversary of the death of the last President of the Spanish Republic, Manuel Azaña. These days include cultural events and a symposium devoted to an aspect of Spanish history linked to the figure of Manuel Azaña. The “Présence de Manuel Azaña” association aims to raise awareness in France and other French-speaking countries of the significance of the work and actions of this great figure of democratic Spain.
