Mars en Danse

This not-to-be-missed biennial event celebrates the diversity and richness of the dance arts, offering a rich programme that boldly blends tradition and modernity. A unique celebration of the arts of movement. This highlight of the city’s calendar will appeal to all enthusiasts, from neophytes to enlightened amateurs.

Olympe de Gouges Days

Every two years, interspersed with the Mars en Danse festival, these days are devoted to the humanist thinking and ideals of freedom of Montalban’s most famous woman.Every two years, interspersed with the Mars en Danse festival, these days are devoted to the humanist thought and ideals of freedom of Montalban’s most famous woman, offering a series of artistic encounters with women who trace their luminous trail through the dark sea of indifference and misogyny.

Montauban Marathon

It’s the place to be for sportsmen and women, for those who push themselves to achieve one of the most difficult sporting feats. The course can be adapted to suit your tastes, with the traditional marathon, a half-marathon, 10 km or team events.

Montauban on Stage

Montauban en Scènes is the musical event of the summer! 4 evenings of concerts featuring some of the biggest names on the French and international music scenes. Vianney, Julien Doré, Patrick Bruel and Rag’n’Bone Man have already set the stage alight at Montauban’s Jardin des Plantes.

Ladies Golf Open

June

Every year since 2019, Golf de l’Estang de Montauban has been organising the Ladies Open, a professional women’s golf tournament that is unique in the Occitanie region. Listed on the LET Access Series calendar alongside other French dates as part of the European women’s circuit, this event brings together French and international players.

Montauban Triathlon

Every year, the Montauban Triathlon offers distance events for youngsters, a mixed relay as well as S and M distance events.

Festival des Lucioles

July

Since 2022, in July, Montauban has shone with a thousand and one lights, from the façade of its cathedral to the Place Lalaque, via the Ingres Bourdelle museum. Mappings, light trails, interactive shows and many other surprises will keep the city alive throughout the festival. It’s a chance to rediscover the city’s buildings and monuments by night, thanks to a very special illumination of their architecture. The colours of the sky and the monuments blend together before your very eyes.

400 Blows Festival

September

It pays tribute to a major event in the town’s history: the unfailing resistance of the Montalbanais to the siege of Louis XIII in 1621, which gave rise to the legend of the 400 coups (see p.4). Every year since then, for one weekend, the town has been celebrating, hosting one of the biggest funfairs in the South-West!

European Heritage Days

September

For 40 years, September has been synonymous with heritage! Organised by Montauban’s CIAP, the European Heritage Days bring together history and heritage lovers to discover the treasures of Greater Montauban.

Baroque Passions

October

Les Passions Baroques is the musical highlight of October in Montauban. Organised by the association Les Passons, under the supervision of Jean-Marc Andrieu, this festival brings together lovers of Baroque music in all its forms. Concerts, lectures, readings and master classes are all on the programme for this music-lovers’ rendezvous.

Autumn Letters

November

Lettre d’automne is a 15-day literary festival in Montalban that invites leading contemporary writers to discuss, debate and give readings on current literary themes. Mathias Énard, Christian Garcin, Brigitte Giraud and Laurent Mauvignier are among the latest guests of honour.

Manuel Azaña Days

As part of the “Manuel Azaña Days”, a remembrance ceremony commemorates the anniversary of the death of the last President of the Spanish Republic, Manuel Azaña. These days include cultural events and a symposium devoted to an aspect of Spanish history linked to the figure of Manuel Azaña. The aim of the “Presence of Manuel Azaña” association is to raise awareness in France and other French-speaking countries of the significance of the work and actions of this great figure of democratic Spain.
