On 4 and 5 July 2026, Montauban is gearing up for one of its most intense sporting weekends of the year.

For the 10th consecutive year, the Montauban Triathlon is transforming the ‘Pink City’ into the capital of endurance, attracting hundreds of athletes who have come to test their limits in an exceptional setting.

Since its first edition in 2015, this event has established itself as a must-attend fixture on the regional sporting calendar.

Imagine the buzz on the Cours Foucault at the first light of dawn.

Neoprene wetsuits glisten in the first rays of the sun, gleaming bikes are lined up in the transition area, and the excitement is palpable.

This is where the magic of the Montauban Triathlon comes to life: a coming together of athletes, spectators and local heritage against a unique urban backdrop.

The triathlon experience in the heart of Montauban

The route winds its way through the most beautiful spots in the town and its surroundings.

Swimmers cut through the waters of the Tarn, spurred on by supporters gathered along the banks, whilst cyclists cover the kilometres on roads that reveal the rolling landscapes of the Greater Montauban area.

The running stage, meanwhile, takes the athletes back to the historic centre, creating a striking spectacle where sporting achievement and architectural heritage blend harmoniously.

The events on Saturday 4 July

The afternoon kicks off with the XS Race (3.00 pm), perfect for beginners or younger participants keen to get a taste of triathlon. The atmosphere steps up a notch with the S Races (4.30 pm), which include individual, relay and corporate formats, creating a great sense of friendly competition between colleagues and friends.

The challenges of Sunday 5 July

Sunday gets off to a flying start with the flagship event: the Format L (8.30 am), which offers a challenge worthy of the biggest competitions with its 3,000m swim, 80km cycle and 20km run. A true test of endurance that attracts the most seasoned athletes, alongside relay and duo formats to share the effort.

The M Race (11.30 am) strikes the perfect balance between accessibility and sporting challenge, allowing experienced triathletes to test themselves over a demanding yet manageable distance.

The family at the heart of the event

Sunday afternoon celebrates the next generation with the Youth Races. At 2.00 pm, the 6–9-year-olds take to the course, followed at 2.20 pm by the 10–13-year-olds.

These heart-warming moments reveal the new generation’s budding passion for this all-round sport, in a supportive atmosphere where every young athlete becomes a hero.

The day concludes with the XS Team Races (2.00 pm), where team spirit takes precedence over individual performance, creating unforgettable moments of camaraderie.

Much more than just a competition

The Montauban Triathlon has a charitable dimension that gives it a special spirit . Taking part also means making a difference: a portion of the entry fees is donated tothe Gorilla charity, which fights against poaching in Africa. Every pedal stroke, every breaststroke, every stride thus contributes to a noble environmental cause.

This philosophy is reflected in the exceptional welcome given to participants. Passionate volunteers, generously stocked refreshment stations, and relaxation areas for families: everything comes together to create that friendly yet ambitious atmosphere that characterises the Montauban event.

Experiencing the event as a spectator

For non-participants, the Montauban Triathlon offers a free and captivating spectacle. The prime vantage points along the course allow spectators to cheer on the athletes and share in their excitement. The Cours Foucault becomes a veritable arena where the start and finish lines create moments of intense emotion.

The entertainment areas welcome visitors of all ages, with taster sessions and partner stands that introduce people to the world of triathlon in a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.

The legacy of a decade in sport

Ten editions on, the Montauban Triathlon has firmly established itself on the national sporting scene.

Its steady growth is a testament to the quality of its organisation and the enthusiasm it generates.

Every year, the event pushes the boundaries whilst retaining its Montauban identity: welcoming, authentic and passionate.
