Tarn Festival

When Greater Montauban celebrates its iconic river
From 3 to 5 July 2026, the charming village of Bressols is set to come alive with one of the most authentic festivals in the Greater Montauban area. At Vergnet Park, on the banks of the Tarn, a magical weekend unfolds where folk traditions and the southern way of life come together in an exceptional natural setting. The Fête du Tarn celebrates this river, which has shaped the identity of our region and continues to inspire our most wonderful summer getaways.

The spirit of the Tarn at the heart of the festivities

Imagine yourself strolling along the shaded paths of Vergnet Park, lulled by the murmur of the River Tarn as it flows lazily beneath the hundred-year-old plane trees. The air is filled with the aroma of barbecued food and echoes with the laughter of families gathered for this unique celebration. Here, the festival does more than simply entertain: it reveals the very soul of this region, shaped by the waters of the Tarn for centuries.

The Parc du Vergnet provides an idyllic setting for this celebration. The lush green banks become a natural stage where festive entertainment blends with peaceful contemplation. That is the magic of this festival: bringing together modernity and tradition within a preserved natural setting.

Three days, three different atmospheres

Friday 3 July:Opening night

On Friday evening, the festivities will begin at 4.30 pm with the opening of the funfair, followed by a DJ set and a fireworks display at dusk.

Saturday 4 July:A festive and friendly atmosphere.

On Saturday, the celebrations will continue with the funfair and a big barbecue organised by the Town Hall Staff Association (bookings must be made by 26 June at the Town Hall), followed by another dance evening.

Sunday 5 July:Events and traditions

Sunday will be the highlight of the weekend, featuring an exhibition of vintage vehicles, bandas performing in the market hall, the commemorative ceremony, the town’s pre-dinner drinks reception, a rock concert, as well as free boat trips (bookable in advance) in the morning from 10.00 am at the refreshment stand.

The authentic delights of the Tarn

Beyond the entertainment, the Fête du Tarn showcases the simple pleasures that give our river its charm. Boat trips (booking required) offer a unique perspective on the landscapes of the Greater Montauban area. Gliding gently along the calm waters of the Tarn, observing the wildlife on the banks and admiring the shifting reflections of the vegetation: these moments of riverside tranquillity provide a delightful contrast to the festive buzz.

The vintage car exhibition adds a touch of nostalgia to the event. These mechanical gems of yesteryear tell the story of our roads and our motoring traditions, creating a moving dialogue between past and present on the banks of this timeless river.

A weekend by the water

The Fête du Tarn in Bressols perfectly embodies the summer spirit of the Greater Montauban area: authenticity, a friendly atmosphere and a celebration of our natural heritage.

It is a unique opportunity to rediscover the Tarn from a festive perspective, whilst savouring those moments of togetherness that forge the social bonds of our region.

As they leave Vergnet Park after this memorable weekend, visitors take away with them much more than just memories: they carry with them the essence of that gentle Tarn charm that so perfectly characterises summer in the Greater Montauban area.
