Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Centre
With an uninterrupted view over the main courtyard of the Ancien Collège, the Centre d’Interprétation de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine (Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Centre) can be found behind the large windows on the first floor.
An exhibition and cultural centre, the CIAP is also the home of the town’s tour guides, who tell you all about the town’s secrets with passion during their guided tours.
Permanent exhibition

Montauban: Portrait of a town

Explore the major stages in the town’s history, from its foundation in 1144 to the present day. The reception area features four maps showing the urban development of Montauban over the centuries. Don’t miss the scale model of the Protestant town under siege by Louis XIII’s army in 1621. The tour, which includes objects, paintings, sculptures, models and panels, then takes you through the major stages in the town’s history and the key features of its heritage. You’ll be all set to discover Montauban, a city of art and history!

An area dedicated to children offers a range of games to help them discover history and heritage while having fun ( treasure hunt, memory, dominoes, etc.), as well as a reading corner.

After immersing yourself in the urban development of Montauban, between the walls teeming with history of the permanent exhibition.

The CIAP's missions

As an administrative department of the town of Montauban, the CIAP is faithful to its vocation of sharing and transmitting heritage, in particular by organising workshops for children and guided tours, as well as working on the preservation and collection of Montauban’s buildings and heritage data. These many tasks, carried out with passion, have enabled the town to be awarded the ” Ville d’art et d’histoire” (City of Art and History) label since 1998.
