Robert Guicharnaud, local correspondent for Prehistoric Antiquities in Tarn-et-Garonne, has conducted numerous archaeological excavations in the region. Artifacts from the Mirande 1 site in Nègrepelisse—comprising significant quantities of flint and quartz—date this archaeological site to the Magdalenian period (the end of the Paleolithic).
