The Glass Child
Léonore Confino: SACD Theatre Prize 2025 and Molière Award for Best Francophone Author for the play "Ring"
On a clifftop stands the glass kingdom of the Kilvik family. Inside, absolutely everything is made of glass. By tradition, on her 15th birthday, Liv inherits the delicate glass titmouse from her sister Hella, who is getting married. Early the next morning, the bird shatters in her palm. The Kilvik edifice, as luminous as it is unsettling, as fragile as it is sharp, begins to crack… Léonore Confino, Géraldine Martineau, and Alain Batis immerse us in a luminous fable, bordering on the fantastical. The Glass Child draws its inspiration from a subject that concerns us all: family, its secrets, and its unspoken truths.
On a stage of white sand, seven vertical one-way mirrors conceal and reveal… The costumes peel away like successive layers of life…
Performed by seven actors, the play weaves a theatrical, visual, and choreographic score, and evokes a profoundly liberating voice.
