Description
A co-production of the Paris National Opera, ARTE France and Bel Air Media, with the support of the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images and the Orange Foundation, patron of the audiovisual broadcasts of the Paris National Opera.
Synopsis
Charles Perrault's famous fairy tale, set to music by Sergei Prokofiev, is transposed into a cinematic setting filled with references to American film heroes. Rudolf Nureyev propels his Cinderella into the Hollywood spotlight. With a producer as her fairy godmother and a star actor as her Prince Charming, she escapes her miserable fate and sees her dreams come true. This story is reminiscent of the choreographer's own life, a young Tatar who became an international star. With this "metaphorical ballet," the Company pays tribute to Rudolf Nureyev, its former director.
