What is it?

The Fête des 400 Coups is much more than a simple celebration: it’s a key event in Montalban’s identity, with its roots in a historic event. As was the case for the 400th anniversary of Les 400 Coups, this year’s celebration has become a genuine cultural event that brings the city’s streets to life. This emblematic festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors, who come to discover a unique atmosphere combining tradition and modernity.

Did you know?

In September 1621, at the height of the siege, the town of Montauban was subjected to powerful cannon fire from the royal artillery. These memorable salvos from the royal guns live on today in the imagination of the people of Montauban through the historical legend known as “The 400 Blows”.

During the 400 coups, you can discover : parades of extras, musicians, dancers, jugglers in costume, theatrical scenes in period costume, dance demonstrations to the sound of music from yesteryear, a great equestrian and fire show, historical shows with falconers and fire-eaters, a parade of wolves, wooden games and traditional games, a theatre show in period costume, dance demonstrations to the sound of music from yesteryear, a great equestrian and fire show questre et de feu, historical shows with falconers and fire-eaters, a parade of wolves, wooden games and traditional games, a cloak-and-dagger show, a cavalcade with the Queen of the 400 Blows float, mapping projections, sound and light shows, and many other surprises. Entirely decorated with coats of arms and decked out in the colours of red and blue, it will be the setting for a fire show, falconry and equestrian demonstration on Saturday evening after the cavalcade. The Fête des 400 Coups is much more than just a festival; it’s a vibrant testament to the town’s identity and vitality.
