Baroque Passions Festival

From 2 to 12 October 2025

The 11th edition of the Passions Baroques Festival is set to be an exceptional year, under the honorary presidency of Jacques Toubon. This major cultural event transforms the Greater Montauban area into a veritable showcase for baroque music, offering eleven days of total immersion in themusical art of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Internationally renowned artists and ensembles

This 2025 edition brings together a host of first-rate artists and prestigious ensembles who are raising the profile of Baroque music across Europe.

The programme includes Le Poème Harmonique conducted by Vincent Dumestre with mezzo-soprano Isabelle Druet, the Jeune Orchestre Baroque Européen conducted by Sylvain Sartre and Margaux Blanchard, the ensemble Dulci Jubilo led by Christopher Gibert, and of course Les Passions conducted by Jean-Marc Andrieu.

An exceptional musical journey to the heart of Greater Montauban

The artistic eclecticism continues with Jeanne Le Goff’sEnsemble Calico, the talents of Joël Sitbon and Étienne Manchon, cellist Marjolaine Cambon, actress Nathalie Vidal and violinist Flavio Losco. This diversity of performers guarantees an enriching, multifaceted approach to the Baroque repertoire.

A repertoire of timeless masters

The composers featured reflect the richness of Europe’s Baroque heritage: Monteverdi, Charpentier, Carissimi, Blow, Luis de Briceño, Étienne Moulinié, Telemann, Marin Marais and Alessandro Scarlatti . These giants of early music will take festival-goers on a journey through the different Baroque schools and traditions, from Italy to England, via France and Spain.

Exceptional locations for unique moments

The festival takes place in remarkable architectural settings that enhance each musical performance. The Théâtre Olympe de Gouges will host large-scale productions, while theÉglise Saint-Jacques in Montauban will offer its exceptional acoustics for intimate concerts. The Musée Ingres Bourdelle will be offering recitals in a unique museum setting, while theAbbaye de Belleperche in Cordes-Tolosannes will bring the festival to a close in an exceptional Cistercian setting. Not forgetting more confidential venues such as La Petite Comédie, La Maison du Crieur, and the Church of Gibiniargues in Puycornet, where artists and audiences can enjoy special encounters.

A rich and varied programme

The festival stands out for the diversity of its artistic offerings. Symphonic concerts, intimate recitals, operas, literary and musical impromptu performances, exhibitions… every format has its place in this baroque celebration. The“Costumes d’opéra” exhibition at the Maison du Crieur, with costumes kindly made available by the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles, will plunge visitors into the sumptuous world of Lully’s Armide. Highlights include John Blow’s “Venus and Adonis” by the Jeune Orchestre Baroque Européen, “Danza! El Fenix de París” by Le Poème Harmonique for a festive journey through baroque Spain, and “1643, l’héritage italien” (1643, the Italian heritage), which will weave an artistic filiation between Monteverdi, Carissimi and Charpentier.

Accessibility and social commitment

The festival is affirming its commitment to cultural accessibility with a free mobility assistance service for people with mobility difficulties. This initiative reflects our desire to make baroque music accessible to as many people as possible. The pricing policy also reflects this inclusive approach, with a standard price of €24, a reduced price of €16, a special price for young people under 26 of €5, and free admission for children under 14. The Culture Pass is accepted for 15-18 year olds, making it easier for young people to access this exceptional programme.
