Unraveling Mouths
Poetry and Embroidery by Women from Iran to Occitania
This project was born from an encounter with Mahtab Ghorbhani, an Iranian poet and refugee in France, and the
discovery of the collection "Remember the Flight – Women's Voices in Persian Poetry" by Franck Merger and Niloufar Sadighi.
Deeply moved by the strength and courage of these Iranian poets, Céline Mistral chose to bring their words to the stage. In parallel, through her relationship with her grandmother and the art of boutis—recognized as intangible cultural heritage—she weaves a dialogue between the tradition of embroidery and its contemporary uses.
The needle, long perceived as an instrument of oppression, becomes here a tool of liberation,
resonating with the voices of women who embroider their freedom and their destiny.
