Description
On September 19 and 20, immerse yourself in the spirit of the 43rd European Heritage Days and discover the heritage of Montauban through two themes: "Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine" and "The Heritage of Photography."
Tour guides and cultural mediators have once again used their creativity to offer you unique discovery tours, lectures, performances, and participatory workshops.
Starting Friday, September 18—the event’s launch night—come meet artist Victoria Niki and take part in creating an artwork that will be featured in the exhibition *Places: The Places That Inhabit Us* (*Places : ces lieux qui nous habitent*), opening at the CIAP on November 20.
Then, throughout the weekend, go behind the scenes of the local heritage. The MIB’s storage areas and the municipal archives’ repositories will be exceptionally open to visitors, while the Natural History Museum offers you the chance to talk with the professionals who preserve its collections.
The CIAP and the Museum of the Resistance and the Combatant invite you to explore Montauban’s photographic heritage—the former through the exceptional Langlade collection, and the latter via the glass plates carefully preserved in its archives.
Prepare to be surprised as heritage comes alive through performance and music: the Montauban Conservatory welcomes you to Saint-Jacques Church, the MIB hosts the Mattatoio Sospeso company, and the Museum of the Resistance and the Combatant presents the commemorative show "To Sing Is Also to Resist!" (*Chanter, c’est aussi résister !*).
Finally, as every year, be sure to book your spots for the special discovery tours: from City Hall to the Emergence Hall, from the Sapiac Stadium to the chapel of the Dames de Nevers boarding school, and including the Prefecture—it’s all just a short step away!
Grand Montauban and all the City of Montauban’s partners look forward to welcoming you to this weekend full of discoveries.
