An event to discover and understand

From 2 to 12 October 2026, the Fête de la Science invites you to Montauban for a new edition centred on discovery and curiosity.

To mark the occasion, the Victor-Brun Natural History Museum is organising a range of events to explore the sciences, learn more about the living world and discover the history of our region.

From temporary exhibitions and permanent collections to guided tours and the chance to explore an archaeological site: visitors of all ages will be able to enjoy the various events on offer during this period.

The exhibition of the moment!

During the Festival of Science, the Museum also invites you to explore its temporary exhibition , ‘On the Trail of Mammals’.

Through this exhibition, come and meet the mammals and discover the diversity of these animals that inhabit our planet.

Their way of life, characteristics and distinctive features all offer avenues to explore as you make your way through the exhibition.

This exhibition complements your exploration of the permanent collections and allows you to extend your visit to the Museum by focusing on a fascinating theme: mammals.

An ideal opportunity to observe, learn and gain a better understanding of the living world.

Visit to an archaeological site and a lecture

Local representative for Prehistoric Antiquities in Tarn-et-Garonne.

Robert Guicharnaud, local correspondent for the Tarn-et-Garonne Prehistoric Antiquities Department, has carried out numerous archaeological excavations in the region.

The artefacts from the Mirande 1 site in Nègrepelisse, notably numerous flints and quartz pieces, enable this archaeological site to be dated to the Magdalenian period, at the end of the Palaeolithic.

A tour of the archaeological site to explore this prehistoric site and the findings of the research carried out there.

In the afternoon, head to the Ancien Collège to explore the exhibition of the artefacts uncovered during these excavations.
