GRUPO COMPAY SEGUNDO
SALSA – SON CUBANO – WORLD MUSIC
GRUPO COMPAY SEGUNDO carries on the legacy of a master of Cuban music, keeping alive the soul and energy that defined an entire generation. Following the 2003 passing of Compay Segundo—the iconic singer from the Buena Vista Social Club—his fellow musicians chose to continue the journey, remaining faithful to his repertoire and the spirit of traditional Cuban music.
Led by Salvador Repilado—the artist’s son and longtime stage companion—the ensemble continues to tour the globe. Joined by several renowned Cuban musicians, the group shares the history, vibrant colors, and richness of this iconic style, characterized by acoustic elegance and exquisite melodic finesse.
Driven by Salvador Repilado’s vision and the creativity of singer-songwriter Maikel Dinza, this project creates a dialogue between the *son cubano* tradition and a decidedly contemporary sensibility.
GRUPO COMPAY SEGUNDO is one of the most iconic *son cubano* ensembles; their mastery, musical warmth, and authenticity have captivated audiences worldwide. Fueled by Compay’s living legacy and a generation of musicians who are as virtuosic as they are tireless, the group delivers a rare concert experience: powerful, elegant, and deeply rooted in Cuban tradition, yet open to modernity.
