Description
HOCHEID, an internationally acclaimed painter based in Montauban since 2023, exhibits in galleries across the United States, France, Germany, and Switzerland, and is recognized by the prestigious Saatchi Gallery.
"The more the figurative element fades, the more the emotional intensity rises, and the more compelling the artistic process becomes," writes the artist, for whom the canvas is a true laboratory for experimentation—a site of alchemy where she creates, inscribes, and terraforms an abstract universe. In this realm, rage and ecstasy intertwine, and the materiality and texture—in all their sensuality—play a role at least as significant as color.
Repeated and layered patterns and graphic elements create a rhythm and reveal an interplay of overlays; she calls this "condensed writing"—an intentional paradox for an artist who defines her work as an "absence of words," existing outside the "realm of language." Navigating between immediate revelations and slow maturation, between transforming established methods and asserting her full humanity, HOCHEID ultimately strikes a balance within the painting.
While painting is indisputably her medium, HOCHEID spent several years working in a stained-glass studio, where she trained specifically in glass painting. This expertise has deeply influenced her work, driving a constant quest for innovative techniques that lies at the very heart of her artistic approach.
Opening reception: Saturday, September 5 at 11:44 AM.
