Description
The Nutcracker is an ode to imagination, magic, and fantasy.
On Christmas Eve, 18-year-old Clara receives a nutcracker from her uncle. As night falls, she cradles it in her arms until she drifts into a deep sleep. She escapes into a world where toy soldiers, rats, and other terrifying creatures battle each other. Her nutcracker, now a handsome prince, helps her overcome her fears and saves her from this predicament. The magic works, and Clara falls in love for the first time…
This is one of the most famous ballets in the world of dance and one of the most accessible. A universal story, one that everyone can relate to. Choreographer Laurent Drousie offers a new, more contemporary and modern version that doesn't neglect the foundations of this rite of passage—a young girl becoming a woman who meets her first love—but offers a fresh interpretation.
