Description

A 5-day course consisting of five consecutive 2-hour sessions, with a choice of two time slots: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM or 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM. It runs from Monday to Friday and includes SRAV certification .
This course is designed for children aged 9 to 11 who already know how to ride a bike without training wheels. For children younger than 9 or older than 11, please contact us so we can decide together on the best approach. "Savoir Rouler à Vélo" (Knowing How to Ride a Bike) is a national program—similar to the "Savoir Nager" (Knowing How to Swim) initiative—aimed at helping children become independent cyclists before they start middle school. Our goal? To ensure every child acquires the skills and confidence to ride a bike on the street—whether or not there is dedicated cycling infrastructure—and makes progress in: ✅ bike handling skills, ✅ knowledge of signs and signals, ✅ communication with other road users, ✅ the ability to ride safely. Our method: The course features activities, exercises, and games on the bike (and sometimes off it!) to teach collaboration, critical thinking, and how to navigate safely. It will be a fun yet serious course ;) The three modules of the SRAV program will be covered: Module 1 = Knowing how to pedal (mastering bike fundamentals) Module 2 = Knowing how to navigate traffic (learning to ride in a safe environment: group riding, communicating with others, and understanding traffic rules for cyclists) Module 3 = Knowing how to ride (riding in real-world conditions and independently) Modules 1 and 2 will take place over three sessions at the Decathlon Montauban site. Module 3 will also start from the Decathlon Montauban site; we will learn to ride in a group in the surrounding area. Parents who wish to do so may join the group ride; please speak to the course instructor. What is provided: SRAV educational booklet SRAV certificate upon completion of the course Loan of a safety vest (if needed) Loan of an SRAV frame plate Water station on-site Restrooms available What to bring: Please bring your child's bicycle and helmet. Bring a water bottle and a snack. Gloves (cycling mitts) and a high-visibility vest are a plus.
