At the beginning of the 18th century, the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice takes in and trains young orphan girls in music. Hidden from the public, often masked or behind a grille, the girls' orchestra performs for the institution's wealthy patrons. Twenty-year-old Cecilia excels as a violinist. Until the day the arrival of a new music master, Antonio Vivaldi, disrupts her life and that of the Ospedale... Vivaldi and I is loosely based on the novel Stabat Mater by Tizano Scarpa, published in 2008, which received the prestigious Strega Prize in Italy the following year.
