A new academic year designed with students in mind
Every October, the Grand Montauban welcomes its new students and offers them a highlight to get the year off to a good start: the student rally. A little later in the season, the Higher Education Fair rounds off this programme by helping sixth-formers with their post-A-level career choices. These two complementary events, organised by Grand Montauban, set the tone for the academic year in the region.

The student rally
a must-attend event at the start of the new termOn 7 October 2026, from 1 pm to 6 pm, come along to the Jardins de la Roseraie in Montauban for a fun, sporting and sociable afternoon taking in various parts of the town. Organised by the Grand Montauban Youth and Student Life Department as part of the Saisons Étudiantes programme, this treasure hunt is open to all students in the area, regardless of their course of study.
On the programme:
- Sporting and fun challenges open to everyone,
- An opportunity to discover Montauban’s heritage and iconic landmarks,
- Team quizzes and challenges to test knowledge and creativity,
- An opportunity for students across the region to meet and build a sense of community.
The event is free, but registration through your educational institution is compulsory. Beyond the fun of the competition, the rally has a simple aim: to help new arrivals settle in, to build links between educational institutions and to offer a different way of discovering the city, in a lively and supportive atmosphere.
The Higher Education Fair
to help them choose their future pathOn Saturday 21 November 2026, the Salle Eurythmie in Montauban will host the 3rd Higher Education Fair, from 9am to 5pm, with free admission.
Organised jointly by the Greater Montauban Authority and the Tarn-et-Garonne Departmental Council, this unmissable event for sixth-formers brings together, in one place, all the key players in higher education, careers guidance and student life in the region. It’s a unique opportunity to ask any questions you may have about post-A-level study and to discover the courses available in Tarn-et-Garonne and Occitanie, helping you to make the best-informed choice about your future path.

The Roseraie Youth Centre
a support network for 15–25-year-oldsThe Greater Montauban area has decided to bring together its services for young people in a single location: the Pôle Jeunesse de la Roseraie (2 Boulevard Édouard Herriot, Montauban). It is a genuine one-stop shop to support students and young people in the area with their administrative procedures.
In particular, it houses:
- The Youth Drop-in Centre, aimed at 15–25-year-olds, which supports personal and group projects, organises discussions and workshops, and offers themed support sessions on Wednesday afternoons;
- The Youth Information Service (SIJ / Youth Information Office), which provides information on European mobility, accommodation, employment, the BAFA citoyen scheme, project support, and help with writing CVs and cover letters;
- The Local Youth Council, a forum for civic participation bringing together 48 young people aged 14 to 21 from the local area.
Student life in the Greater Montauban area
As well as providing support, the Greater Montauban area offers students a vibrant lifestyle in which to enjoy their free time: museums (the Ingres Bourdelle Museum, the Natural History Museum), theatres, year-round festivals (Lettres d’automne, Passions Baroques, European Heritage Days…), sports facilities and a wealth of cultural and sporting clubs. Everything you need to combine your studies, exploring the city and community life in a city on a human scale, easily accessible from Toulouse.
