Our advice on how to make the most of it

  • Go to the Saturday markets at dawn or as soon as they open: the stalls are fuller and you’ll find seasonal produce at its best.
  • Don’t forget to ask the producers questions: they know better than anyone where their produce comes from, how it’s grown and how best to enjoy it.
  • In winter, opt for simple but tasty dishes: winter vegetables sometimes need a little gentle cooking and delicate seasoning to bring out their full flavour.
  • And don’t forget to treat yourself: winter in Montauban is not about frugality, it’s about generosity.

Cheese, the star of winter dishes

When the cooler weather kicks in, there’s nothing like a good melting cheese! La Ferme du Ramier, one of the region’s leading producers, offers a wide range of farmhouse cheeses… and above all some ultra-comforting winter recipes based on their products. Here are a few ideas to try:

  • Rami-flette, a local homage to tartiflette
  • Fondue du Ramier, perfect for a cosy evening out
  • A truffade revisited, generous and convivial

Their cheeses can be found directly on the markets of Greater Montauban, the perfect opportunity to take home a key ingredient for your seasonal meals.

Gourmet ideas to prepare at home

  • A warm leek and walnut salad with a twist of lemon.
  • Oven-roasted root vegetables, seasoned with herbs from the market.
  • Fennel and potato gratin.
  • And of course… a melt-in-your-mouth cheese dish to warm you up.
  • Fruity dessert: with poached pears or an apple and quince crumble.
