Exhibition at the Maison du Crieur: For François Bardet, a landscape is a "state of mind"
The exhibition "State of Mind" will be on display at the Maison du Crieur in Montauban throughout April. From April 4th to 25th, come and discover the painted views of François Bardet.
At the Maison du Crieur, François Bardet opens windows onto quiet, gentle landscapes, seemingly untouched by the world. From April 4th to 25th, through his exhibition "State of Mind," his views invite contemplation, the exploration of hushed horizons, and an escape from a hectic and often anxiety-inducing reality, far from the crowds, the city, and the noise.
As in the landscapes of the German master, the Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich, the viewer can contemplate mountains, seas, trees, and villages over the shoulders of figures seen from behind, suspended in a pointless waiting... Through the interplay of lines and the almost naive softening of contours, reminiscent of the American Edward Hopper, a delicate hint of melancholy mingles with this solitary waiting, accentuated by the shades of gray, blue, and ochre that the painter favors. A feeling of deserted landscapes, of universes whose geometry shifts as if in a dream, worlds open indefinitely, yet enclosed within the frame: for François Bardet, a landscape is a state of mind, and it is the painter's states of mind that become landscape.
