It is an honor to welcome Bruno Montpied, painter, writer, and independent researcher specializing in outsider art, for this new exhibition dedicated to his "stacked" works.

THE STACKED ONES
The years pile up. References, names, discoveries build piles that climb towards the sky. And suddenly, since 2025, my drawings have also begun to translate these piles... Like a distant reminiscence, too, of the so-called "Grotesque" decorations created from the Renaissance onwards, ancestors of the Surrealists' automatic drawing, all of which have always struck me. Characters, imaginary decorative motifs, a whole vocabulary of the most varied forms imaginable, began to climb my paper supports vertically, in an enigmatic graphic ascent. This had the simultaneous effect of recapitulating the scattered elements of the iconographic lexicon produced during my 50 years of pictorial and graphic creation, while also resurrecting the love of color that has always been present within me.
Because, yes, 1976-2026, thanks to Blandine Roques, my Stacked Ones wish me, I suddenly realized, a happy birthday, that of 50 years of artistic creation, of a certain hope of maturity finally attained…
