Horn, the foreman, and Cal, a young engineer, share temporary accommodation behind the double gates of the compound reserved for whites. Leone, Horn's fiancée, arrives from Europe the very evening a man who has broken in appears behind the gates. His name is Alboury. He will not leave until he is given the body of his brother, who died on the construction site...
