400 Coups funfair

400 Blows Funfair

From 12 to 14 September 20025
When the Parc du Cours Foucault is transformed into an amusement park
Published on 26 August 2025
Two Universes

the same magic

While Montauban’s historic centre is decked out in its period costume to celebrate the Fête des 400 Coups, the Parc du Cours Foucault is decked out in its finest fairground finery. This traditional funfair, organised in perfect sync with the historic festivities on 13 and 14 September, offers the ideal festive complement for a complete family experience.

The combination of historical heritage and fairground fun creates an atmosphere that is unique to Montauban: on the one hand, the splendour of the 17th century, and on the other, the joyful, colourful effervescence of the funfair.

Two worlds that complement each other perfectly, to the delight of all ages.

Cours Foucault Park

A green setting transformed

The Parc du Cours Foucault, Montauban’s green lung located close to the town centre, is transformed for a weekend into a veritable amusement park. Its shady lanes are home to rides, attractions and games stalls, creating a striking contrast between the peaceful nature of the park and the colourful bustle of the funfair. The location is ideal: within easy reach of the historic city centre, it allows families to navigate easily between the period shows and the funfair, offering a day rich in discovery and excitement.

An authentic funfair

The traditional spirit of funfairs

This funfair continues the great tradition of French popular festivals. The sweet smell of candyfloss wafting through the air, the merry chimes of the merry-go-rounds, the excited shouts of the children, the laughter: all the ingredients are there to recreate that special atmosphere that makes the hearts of the little ones beat faster and awakens the nostalgia of the grown-ups.

Attractions to suit all tastes

Traditional rides for the youngest visitors, thrill rides for thrill-seekers, skill-testing stands to try and win the jackpot: the diversity of the attractions ensures that there’s something for everyone. The children’s rides, with their colourful wooden horses, little cars and gently spinning aeroplanes, offer the youngest visitors their first fairground thrills in a safe and appropriate setting. Family attractions allow parents to share moments of complicity with their children, creating those precious memories that mark a childhood. For the more adventurous, the thrill rides promise adrenaline rushes and cries of joy, providing that dose of excitement that makes fairs so special.

A weekend of festivities

Perfectly complementary

From heritage to rides

The simultaneous organisation of the historical festival and the funfair creates an exceptional synergy. Families can :

  • Start their day by discovering the historical shows in the town centre
  • Continue the afternoon with the funfair in the Parc du Cours Foucault
  • End the evening with the fire and light shows on the Place Nationale.

This alternation between culture and relaxation, history and fun, heritage and popular tradition, offers a complete experience that satisfies every member of the family.

The programme

From the evening of Friday 12 September, the festive atmosphere sets in with the opening of the funfair, its first concerts and its inaugural cavalcade, which sets the tone for this exceptional weekend. On Saturday 13 September, after watching the historic parade and the inaugural show, there’s nothing like a funfair outing to prolong the festivities in a different but just as joyous atmosphere. The evening continues with concerts and a parade of floats that keep the park alive until late into the night. On Sunday 14 September, between a visit to the period market and the last of the historical sketches, the funfair offers a welcome playful break, particularly popular with children. The fair closes in style with a final concert and cavalcade.
