MEETING - Hosted by: Camille Thomine - Duration: 1 hour
THE FABRICATION OF TEXTS with Hélène Gestern.
After two highly acclaimed books, the novel 555 (Arléa, 2022), which launched us in search of an ancient score perhaps written by Scarlatti, and then Cézembre (Grasset, 2024), a vast saga about a Saint-Malo family whose fortune and misfortune were made by the sea, Hélène Gestern has published a very personal text, Toi (Seuil, 2025), about the relationship we have with animals, nature, solitude, and our fellow human beings. Also a teacher, researcher, and avid reader, Hélène Gestern works on her writing physically: "I create pieces of stories, I cut, I carve, I assemble, I fix, I polish." It is this act of writing, the search for the right form, that she evokes with us during this interview.
