MEETING - Animation: students of the Master's in Literary Creation at the University of Toulouse II Jean Jaurès - Duration: 1 hour
ON THE EDGE OF WORDS - with Joy Sorman.
Since Boys, Boys, Boys (winner of the Prix de Flore 2005), Joy Sorman has built a unique body of work, at the intersection of fiction and fieldwork. Her books give voice to those who never speak, whether they live on the edge of the human and animal worlds, as in The Skin of the Bear or The Life and Death of a Beast, or in those "common places" which, like the psychiatric hospital (in À la folie, Flammarion, 2021) or the courthouse (in Le Témoin, Flammarion, 2024), tell the story of the world and shed a harsh light on our society. Focusing on the question of silence and how it inhabits bodies and spaces, this encounter will be an opportunity to explore several of Joy Sorman's texts and to delve into a style of writing that questions our way of inhabiting the world.
