8:30 PM – 100% Rock/Swing Dance: Let loose on the dance floor to the rhythm of the best retro sounds
Balboa is a swing dance, born in the 1920s on the peninsula of the same name in California. It is performed in pairs in a closed position. It was danced this way because, originally, space was considerably limited in traditional dance halls, and they were governed by strict codes prohibiting the famous Charleston kicks. Very smooth and elegant, the Balboa is an excellent complement to Lindy Hop, combining these two dances with fast music, due to its simplicity and economy of movement.
