Evoking the country that invented the exact sciences, beauty, and democracy is a daring challenge. A challenge taken up by director Vincent Halleux in this documentary, which first presents Athens, the oldest European capital, a city no less than 3,400 years old. Athens and the islands near Piraeus—called the Saronic Islands—are one of humanity's greatest crossroads. We will explore the "fabulous balconies of Athens": Salamis, Aegina, Spetses, and Hydra, the majestic island with its gigantic natural theater. Its breathtaking beauty will transport us back in time. In the past, it has captivated artists such as Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso, as well as actress Sophia Loren, among other celebrities.
