Folk & poetry
Residency Exit Concert
The duo led by French-American artist Marina Anne Nolles celebrates the texts of American poet Sara Teasdale (1884-1933) with her ethereal and timeless folk music.
It all begins with a book... As a prelude, there's the discovery of a collection of poems entitled "Love Songs" belonging to Marina's great-grandmother, Dorothy. This book was given to her by a childhood lover whom Dorothy sadly never saw again... It is thus the story of an impossible love, undoubtedly experienced through Sara Teasdale's sweet poems, that Marina has revived by setting these texts to music. In the midst of the lockdown, Marina picks up her guitar and plays for herself, letting her earliest influences shine through: Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling, Feist, and Agnès Obel, among others. One day, with her poetry collection open on the table, she was summoned by Sara Teasdale's rhythmic prose, and she subsequently composed some fifteen tracks.
Marina called upon Elodie Longuemart to accompany her on stage with her magnificent vocal harmonies and percussive ambiances.
