Orchestra of the City of Ingres - Family audience Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes with intermission
Under the baton of Jérôme Lézian, professor at the Conservatoire du Grand Montauban, the Orchestre de la Cité d'Ingres presents an original romantic program centered around the suite.
You will descend the Moldau (from the cycle "My Homeland"), follow Peer Gynt on his journey of initiation (incidental music for Henrik Ibsen), lament impossible love (a suite from the ballet Romeo and Juliet), and finally, dance the elegant Nubian Waltz (a ballet suite from Act V of Faust) in a theater as resplendent as a hotel suite!
DID YOU KNOW? The Suite
A major instrumental genre of the 17th and 18th centuries, the dance suite offers an alternation of characters and paces: the allemande, the courante, the sarabande, the jig alternate with the bourrée, the gavotte, or the minuet…
A Logical Sequence
Subsequently, composers grouped movements evoking the same idea of literary, historical, pictorial, or geographical origin.
A Sequence of Ideas
Beginning in the 19th century, they arranged the best excerpts from their ballets or operas into suites to reach a wider audience.
