COMIC BOOK CONCERT - FRED NEVCHÉ (solo)
With FRED NEVCHÉ: vocals, guitar, electronics, sound poetry • Large-format illustrations by ALFRED projected on a screen
Singer-poet Fred Nevché delivers a captivating stage performance, blending spoken word, electro-rock music, and projections of drawings created by artist Alfred specifically for this show. A powerful and poetic hybrid performance that resonates with the life of Alexandre Dumas through his words, his dreams… and his fictional alter ego, Edmond Dantès. A sensory journey exploring the blurred lines between the real life of Alexandre Dumas—son of a freed slave, flamboyant writer, playwright, adventurer—and the fictional destiny of Edmond Dantès, hero of The Count of Monte Cristo. A work poised between biography and fiction, a vibrant homage to Dumas's language and imagination.
THE MUSIC: Epic retro-futuristic rock electro – The composition is electronic, with touches of epic rock, contrasting with the book's era and immersing the performance in a retro-futuristic aesthetic. Within the electronic soundscape, bursts of electro-rock emerge, adding intensity to the spectacular and transformative nature of Alexandre Dumas's destiny.
THE TEXT: Between biography and fiction, between adaptation and rewriting – What connections can be drawn between Edmond Dantès and Alexandre Dumas? Are they not two sides of the same coin? The drama of the show revolves around this heroic figure. Fred Nevché and Alfred have chosen passages from The Count of Monte Cristo and excerpts from Alexandre Dumas's Memoirs, composing a sequence that is both spectacular and breathtaking. We move seamlessly between the two books, holding our breath, learning new things, and marveling at details little known to the general public!
THE ILLUSTRATIONS: At the same time, Alfred's visual universe (winner of the Fauve d'Or at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2014 for Come Prima), with its shifting colors and delicate lines, accompanies the narration, creating a living backdrop that engages in a dialogue with the music and words.
A show at the crossroads of genres, between a coming-of-age story and a visual experience, between literary heritage and a contemporary sensibility.
