Safety in the city centre

Montauban town council is taking steps to improve safety in the town centre in response to recent offences and accidents involving cyclists, scooter users and other two-wheelers. A municipal by-law prohibits the use of these vehicles in pedestrian areas in the heart of the town, encouraging users to put their feet down.

Good practice

– You must be at least 12 years old (soon to be 14) to be allowed to drive an electric scooter or two-wheeled vehicle in town. Persons of legal age accompanying minors are responsible for them – It is forbidden to carry passengers on a Motorised Personal Mobility Device (MPMD) – Insurance is compulsory for MPMDs and light mobile bicycles: the user must take out a civil liability insurance policy specifically for the MPDA
