The museum reopens its doors in the afternoons from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a limit of 10 people simultaneously until June 8.

From June 9, the Victor Brun Natural History Museum will open on its usual opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (Closed Mondays, Sunday mornings and holidays) ) - The gauge will increase to 25 simultaneous visitors.

The natural history museum, located in the former palace of the Cour des aides,
was created in 1852 at the behest of members of the Société des Sciences, Agriculture et Belles Lettres du Tarn-et-Garonne who wished to make available to Montalbanais their private collections. Victor Brun, naturalist, member of the Society and holder of most of the funds that make up the Museum was appointed curator in 1857.

Today, the collections are displayed in 5 rooms, each as rich as the other. As soon as you enter, the Cirque Pinder elephant watches the visitor while the felines stand guard with the bear and the wolf. In the other rooms, the thousands of birds from around the world, a remarkable collection, parade behind the windows and invite to travel (hummingbirds, birds of paradise, parrots ...)

Dioramas offer to discover the environments present in Tarn-et-Garonne with the fauna and flora that compose them.

The trip is also made in time with fossils of phosphorites from Quercy (Lot) dating between -40 and -23 million years old and which testify to the transformation of the species and environments of our surroundings at that time.

The meteorite collection, including that which fell on the village of Orgueil in 1864, propels the visitor into space while the minerals plunge him into the bowels of our planet.

Finish this overview of the wonders of nature with the very beautiful and rich collections of primates, shells and insects.

Throughout the year, educational and cultural activities are offered to different audiences:

workshops and guided tours at the museum, naturalist walks etc ... school and extra school.
