Constellation Ingres Bourdelle

Exhibition at Montauban

  • From 14/12/2019 to 07/06/2020 33 works, paintings and sculptures, were chosen in the national collections around Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Antoine Bourdelle, both born in Montauban. Each piece has been selected in order to develop an unprecedented approach in the museum and renew the look around these two artists by adding complements to the collections. Ingres talks with his students: Amaury Duval, Lehmann and many others but also with his heirs, wise or impertinent: Picasso, Martial Raysse ... Bourdelle's works are confronted with those of Rodin and the presence of paintings by Edgard Degas and Maurice Denis draws the context of the artistic creation of this time. These loans, are the testimony of the exchanges between the city of Montauban, its museum and famous institutions such as the Louvre museum, the Orsay museum, the Picasso museum, the Bourdelle museum, the Rodin museum, the Pompidou center ....
