Inspired by the album "From mom to mom" by Émilie Vast, Compagnie Kokeshi approaches the theme of filiation through the body and movement. Knowing where I come from, who I am, where I'm going... The stories of women and maternal ties are at the heart of this choreographic creation; moments that are both sweet and strong, complicit and solemn. In a refined scenography, costumes worthy of the most beautiful storybooks and with the help of matryoshkas, these fascinating Russian dolls which increase in number as they are opened, the choreography invites spectators of all ages to a very touching emotional journey.
Step by step, the two dancers emancipate themselves from their role of dolls without arms or legs to gain their freedom as women. All in delicacy, in suspensions and twirls, the choreography is as light, funny and frenzied as children know how to be.
ABOUT...
How to construct oneself with one's past? Why did my grandmother experience this? What relationship did she have with her mother? And her daughter ? What character traits did they have in common? What cracks and what strengths have I been able to retain from this? These questions of rootedness and uprooting are at the heart of Capucine Lucas' artistic purpose.
