It is not one, but two masterpieces that the Quatuor Béla has chosen for this program. The four musicians raise their virtuosity to the highest level by tackling two major pieces from the string quartet repertoire.
First, Quartet No. 4 by their favorite composer, Béla Bartók, created in 1929, it constitutes one of the peaks of his work.

First, Quartet No. 4 by their favorite composer, Béla Bartók, created in 1929, it constitutes one of the peaks of his work.
Then the first of the three quartets commissioned from Beethoven between 1806 and 1808 by the Russian ambassador in Vienna, Prince Razoumovski, whose name it bears.
These two pieces, written almost a century apart, show the immense influence of two composers, both modern and timeless, on the history of the string quartet. Colossal works of the genre.
ABOUT...
For 17 years, "the terrible children of the French quartet" have been writing a unique journey, between tradition and modernity. Attached to the old repertoire of the string quartet, the musicians of the Quatuor Béla are committed to inscribing the tradition of the string quartet in contemporary musical life.
