In 2019, an unusual duo called Lunatraktors burst onto the scene with a manifesto album, 'This Is Broken Folk'. Clair Le Couteur, with vocals spanning four octaves, had spent previous years collecting traditional tunes that could resonate with the current state of affairs. His alliance with Carli Jefferson, a defector from the percussive ensemble Stomp, was the kind of spark you get from rubbing and bumping against each other objects recovered from a flea market. It was terribly beautiful, terribly regenerating, oddly sad. You had to see them in concert giving life to their bric-a-brac, making each song a performance. Their momentum was cut off.
Never mind, Lunatraktors took advantage of this forced withdrawal to increase its repertoire by twelve titles, plus a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Lover Lover Lover", already on stage. This is “The Missing Star”. Same rough and unvarnished quality as in the first album, vocals in front, tribal rhythms. Cry of the moor and of a broken country.
