Lettres d'automne: Mustang - music playback

With Cascadeur, songwriter and performer, Maylis de Kerangal has created several musical readings. This evening, the two artists bring to the stage Mustang, a new Canoe powerhouse in which the narrator has been seeking her bearings since she moved with her family to the small town of Golden, Colorado. “I designed Canoës as a novel in separate parts: a central novella, Mustang, and around it, like satellites, seven stories. All are connected, all speak to each other, and start from the same desire: to probe the nature of the human voice, its materiality, its powers, and to compose a sort of vocal world, filled with echoes, vibrations, traces residuals. […] I wanted to intercept a frequency, to keep a note throughout a book which gives pride of place to a tribe of women – women of all ages, solitary, dreamy, talkative, haunted or marginal. They take up all the space. Above all, I wanted to seek my voice among theirs, to make it heard as accurately as possible, to find an “I”, as close as possible. »
