  • July 1944. Chartres has just been liberated from the German Occupation. In the Giraud family, we are hairdressers from father to son, and it is therefore Pierre who had to take over the "men's" salon from his father, who died in a labor camp a year earlier. Marie, his mother, heroine of the French Resistance, takes care of the "women's" salon, but also takes care of bringing a few clients to her son, to lend herself to a very special activity.

    "I wanted to write this piece when I discovered La Tondue de Chartres, a famous photo by photographer Capa representing a woman shaved at the Liberation. I imagined the story of the hairdresser who had to shave this woman. I I have created a family and a love story allowing us to imagine life in this troubled period. Trying not to fall into all the demagogic traps that constantly lie in wait for the author who takes the risk of surveying a subject like For that, I sought, above all and despite everything, to find a poetic angle to this terrible story..."
