16 place Franklin Roosevelt, 82000 Montauban
Built around 1835, this building served as a relay time for the post office.
On the first floor, a magnificent loggia opens on the square.
The piles supporting the entablature take the form of cariatids inspired by those sculpted by Jean Goujon for the Louvre Palace. They are made of terracotta, following a process imitating the stone developed by the Virebent brothers. The same process has been used to make the friezes that surround the windows or separate the different levels.
The second floor is adorned with elegant twin columns.
