  • Very early on converted to Protestantism, Montauban was promulgated as a place of security then stronghold by the Edict of Nantes (1598).

  • Became a bastion to be reconquered for Louis XIII, the latter
    ordered the siege of the city for nearly 3 months in 1621. The city
    8 years later surrendered to the king's Catholic troops. The Counter-Reformation
    then begins in the city.
    After a quick discovery of the 1621 exhibition, a rebellious city facing the king.
