Since 2019, the Prince Noir room, located in the basement of the museum, has welcomed contemporary artists.

After Miguel Chevalier, Georges Rousse and Speedy Graphito, Anne and Patrick Poirier have in turn appropriated this monumental 14th century space with a unique installation. For the first time, the old prison is also invested. Through these two installations, the duo transforms the place and invites us to take a new look, not only at the remarkable vestiges of a bygone era, but also by their metaphorical dimension, at the current world. The exhibition also includes two sculptures in broken glass from the Ouranopolis series (1996), thus registering in a visual as well as semantic filiation "A mirror of the world?" who lives in the hall of the Black Prince.
Anne and Patrick Poirier, form one of the very first and rare couples of artists and this, since 1968. Born in 1941 and 1942 in a "world in ruins", where "the Angel of History" by Walter Benjamin sees “the violence that accumulates”, their work has as a red thread the fragility of civilizations and nature with the corollary the primordial place of memory. For 55 years, they have produced in perfect symbiosis a polymorphic and visionary work.
