French Cross Country Championship

A national sporting event bringing together nearly 6,000 athletes!

Twenty-five years later, the French Cross Country Championships return to Occitania next year. And it is the City of Montauban, for a first in Tarn-et-Garonne, which will be the capital of French cross-country from March 6 to 8, 2020!

The French Championships in Montauban
From March 6 to 8, these French Championships will offer 3 days of sports spectacle mixing the highest level and the neophytes in a warm atmosphere which will allow athletics to live for the whole population. These Championships will also be an opportunity to see the generation running that we will see again at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

More than 1,000 children from the schools and colleges of the Department are expected to arrive on Friday March 6 for a day dedicated to the USEP and the UNSS. In addition to the Masters and handisports races, several thousand runners are expected on Saturday. A great opportunity to taste the atmosphere of a national championship, this day will allow business runners and amateurs to participate in the Open race. Finally on Sunday, around 5000 athletes (12 races for 6 age categories) will try to win the coveted title of Champion of France!

The course of the races
It is the site of the Montauban racecourse which was chosen with the consent of the Société des courses et du Golf du Prat de l'Estang, site users, whom Brigitte Barèges, Mayor of Montauban, wished to thank .
Nearly 40 work and development points have been identified across the entire racetrack site. All of these interventions will be paid for by the services of the City of Montauban to design a course at the height of the event. A course that is necessarily demanding with mounds, tight turns, different surfaces ... in short, changes in pace and stride, that is to say multiple raises to make!
