  • Women wear half of the sky - photo exhibition. Women's fishing professions. From December 2nd to 9th, 2019 by Sylvie GOUSSOPOULOS. As part of the week of the sea initiated by the Region Occitania / Pyrenees-Mediterranean, the House of the Region of Montauban has chosen to pay tribute to women working in the fishing industry through the photographic exhibition "Le Grau du Roi, the professions of fishing for women "by Sylvie GOUSSOPOULOS. Often discreet, considered actresses of the family and private sphere, their work is rarely valued. They are identified at 2% in the sea fishing sector and 40 to 60% in the post-production sectors. This is why the European Parliament has found it necessary "to encourage and financially support the creation of women's associations via networks at national and European level, with the aim of increasing the visibility of the role of women in the fisheries sector and to raise society's awareness of the contribution of women in this sector ". Fifteen portraits to highlight the diversity of activities carried out by women in the many facets of fishing and product enhancement and to show how "women carry half the sky". Zoë VALAT, ethnologist. Open Monday to Friday from 9h to 12h and from 14h to 17h. 16:30 on Friday.
