  • England early nineteenth century: the government orders the sending of female prison overcrowding to Australia. The crossing lasts six months. The play examines the fate of six women, heavily convicted for relatively minor offenses. They carry out the chained crossing in a cell at the bottom of the hold, delivered to the brutality of the crew members. Despite oppression, loneliness, punitive acts and tears, laughter manages to break the tension and a form of brotherhood united them in the struggle for survival. This closed session, in turn violent, funny, disturbing, questions us about the condition reserved for women, and not only in Queen Victoria's England. Transport of women is a cry in the desert of the sea, not just a lament of life and its imprisonment. It is also a ray of hope in a climate where one could imagine any form of aborted humanity.
