  • Exposure As soon as man had acquired sufficient consciousness, his attention was certainly captivated by the flight of birds. Since, the myth of Icarus pursues us, by an aspiration to the emancipation of the rules of the Nature, which at the best constrains the man to the technological imitation, to the peril of his life if he dares to do it. Icarus himself did not recover, his wings of wax and feathers melted in the sun ... This dream began to be realized only at the end of the nineteenth century. with the flight of the Eole, flying machine resembling a bat, that Clément Ader, its creator, designated for the first time under the name "plane". And the technology of aviation has continued to progress, revealing a fabulous crossing of the twentieth century. But it is the destiny of the pilots, men and women who writes the story through silhouettes more or less known, more or less forgotten, which had for some a tragic destiny, or for the happiest of them, a few moments of glory. The department of Tarn-et-Garonne contributed to this epic, through the history of many pilots who have traveled the airways or land routes of our territory.
