  • The archaeological diagnosis of the paths of the Emperor and Mortarieu by Laurent Grimbert, archaeologist at the National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap) In September and October 2017, an extensive archaeological diagnosis was made on the entire eastern front of the historic city from the Emperor's alleys to the Mortarieu alleys. This area, which coincides with the ancient medieval and modern fortifications (ditches, bastions) will soon be the subject of a major urban redevelopment project. Laurent Grimbert, archaeologist at Inrap, will present the result of this campaign, which has unearthed impressive remains, including the Moustier bridge, the Cordeliers casemate, several defensive ditches and the levels of streets at the exit of the city, in the axis of the Faubourg Lacapelle.
