    **********************

Set in the former episcopal palace, the Montauban museum was created in 1820 . But it was in 1867, at the death of Ingres, that the establishment took its identity and its rise: the museum inherits all the works of the famous painter Montalbanais and takes the name Ingres Museum.

The Ingres Museum honors two illustrious Montalbanese: Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Antoine Bourdelle .
This brick building, overlooking the river, makes the Ingres Museum an emblematic place of Montauban .
