LOCAL SPECIALITIES

LE MONTAURIOL
It’s a delicious chocolate candy made with local cherries and Armagnac.
The candies name: “Montauriol” was given by the chocolate makers from the name of the hill where was situated the first abbey existing before the construction of Montauban.

LE PAVE DU QUERCY
This traditional cake is made with a light egg paste, vanilla flavour and garnished with nuts, almonds, raisins, and crystalized cherries.

LE JACQUOU
It’s a pastry that allies a nice blend of our local fruits. It’s garnished with prunes, nuts, raisins and honey.

LE BOULET DE MONTAUBAN

This speciality was created by the « Maison Pécou ». It is a hazelnut candy coated with chocolate and called “Boulet” (cannonballs) referencing to the past of the town.In fact, while Montauban was besieged by Louis XIII, their cannons shot hundreds of cannonballs, and nowadays we can still see the impacts on Saint Jacques church.




THE MARKETS

They take place every Saturday mornings at the Place Prax-Paris, in front of the Tourism Office.
And every Wednesday mornings at the Place Lalaque, close to the train station.
