| JEAN-DOMINIQUE
INGRES (1780-1867)
Ingres,
born in Montauban, was a genius in painting and drawing
since his childhood. He was the student of David, the
master of classicism, but he had his own style for some
of his works.
In fact the “Odalisque”, the “Source”
or the “Bain Turc” are worldly known.
His immediate rival in Classicism was Delacroix.
Ingres used to play violin, this is why he was given
the expression: “Ingres’ violin”.
